  3. Gross profit

Sales minus food and drink costs.

What is left after food and drink costs, to pay the team, the building and the rest.

Questions

About the template.

What is a restaurant P&L?

A page that shows, month by month, what the restaurant sold, what it cost, and what was left. P&L means profit and loss.

Is the template free?

Yes. Download it and it is yours. No sign up and no email address needed.

Which currency does it use?

Yours. Type every amount in your own currency, as a whole amount. Write the currency at the top of the sheet.

Where do the service charge and tax go?

In Mise, sales are counted before tax, with the service charge in. The part of the service charge paid to the team goes in wages. Your accountant knows how the tax of your country reads these lines.

Can I add my own lines?

Yes. Insert a row inside a group, between two of its lines, and the total of the group takes it in.

What is prime cost?

Food and drink costs plus wages, read as one figure. The template works it out under the wages, in money and as a percent of sales.
